Dylan's journey with Navigating Home began through the SEAS Islands Alliance Fellowship, where he first developed hands-on research experience while working alongside scientists committed to addressing challenges facing island communities. Building on that foundation, he continues his professional growth as a Navigating Home Fellow, expanding both his technical expertise and his understanding of collaborative, community-centered science.
Throughout his fellowship experience, Dylan has participated in field research, scientific collaborations, and professional development opportunities that have strengthened his skills as an emerging researcher. Working across interdisciplinary teams has allowed him to connect classroom knowledge with real-world environmental challenges while gaining valuable mentorship from scientists throughout the network.
For Dylan, the transition from the SEAS Islands Alliance Fellowship to Navigating Home represents more than a continuation of his academic journey; it reflects the long-term impact of sustained mentorship. As he continues developing as a scientist, he hopes to contribute research that supports island communities while inspiring future students to pursue careers in STEM. His story demonstrates how Navigating Home creates lasting pathways for professional growth, empowering the next generation of researchers to make meaningful contributions both within and beyond their communities.
