Nicholas Durgadeen’s career in STEM is flourishing. His path began in 2018 with the Supporting Emerging Aquatic Scientists (SEAS) Your Tomorrow Program, hosted by the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). Through SEAS Your Tomorrow, Nicholas embarked on his marine science education and forged lasting connections with globally recognized organizations like The Nature Conservancy and local entities such as the St. Croix East End Marine Park. As the program evolved into SEAS Island Alliance, Nicholas transitioned from mentee to mentor, guiding new participants and supporting the next generation of scientists.
Miranda Goad

As a first-generation college student, Miranda’s academic and professional journey has been significantly shaped by support from programs such as the National Science Foundation (NSF) SEAS Island Alliance and the Navigating Home Fellowships. During her undergraduate studies at the University of the Virgin Islands, she gained invaluable exposure to marine science research through internships and conferences supported by the Grimes Lab.
Chloé Camacho

Chloé Camacho is a current Master of Marine and Environmental Studies (MMES) candidate at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). Chloé’s journey into marine science has been profoundly shaped by the support provided through the Large-scale Coastlines and People (CoPe) award, Reducing Climate Risks with Equitable Nature-based Solutions: Engaging Communities on Reef-Lined Coasts, and her Navigating Home fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Marilyn Brandt.
